We wish Msgr. John all the best and ask you to continue to remember
his priestly service in your prayers.

Happy
Anniversary Father Blessing! - A special "thank
you" to all who stopped by to congratulate Fr. Blessing on the
25th anniversary of his ordination. If anyone would still wish to
contribute a gratuity towards Fr. Blessing's retirement fund, you
may drop it in the parish office. We are so blessed to have Father
Blessing with us. May Our Lord continue to bless him.
Celebration
and Procession del Señor de los Milagros
“Our Lord of Miracles”
Sunday Oct. 22 after the 1:00pm Mass
Brief
Historical Background
The popular
version of the story about the origins of El Señor de los Milagros
is widely circulated in Peru. To understand the cult to Señor
de los Milagros one must understand its most fundamental structuring
logic: ‘the profound fear of humans, helpless before unforeseeable
seismic movements’. More
Covenant
Sunday and Ministry Fair
- On Sunday, September 10, we held our annual Ministry
Fair after all the morning Masses. Last year we introduced
Covenant Sunday as part of this annual event. We
thank you for all you have done and contributed to the many programs,
efforts, celebrations and special events we have celebrated as a parish
community this past year. Our mission is to serve the needs of our
community by offering programs that will meet your spiritual needs.

at the 5:15pm Mass Celebrated by Msgr. Myron Cotta, V. G, a special

Special
Masses & Retreat - Monday, January 30
through Thursday, February 2, 2006 - Father
Louis Hondocodo celebrated 12:15pm Mass in the Guadalupe Chapel followed
by daily retreats. Father is a dedicated priest from Benin, West Africa.
He is currently building a Spirituality
Center with the emphasis on the Holy Eucharist through
teaching educational courses and spiritual exercises. Perpetual Adoration
is also a component of the prayerful educational opportunity. Lay
people, Priests and Seminarians are the recipients of this important
formation. The people of Benin are very receptive to the work of Father's
evangelization and Christianity is growing in the area. Father just
completed giving a retreat at St. Anthony's Retreat Center in Three
Rivers, CA.
Christmas
2005 at St. Anthony's - As a parish family, we celebrated
the Nativity of the Lord with many beautiful masses. In the words
of our Pastor, Msgr. John, "My Dear Parishioners, The Christmas
season has come and gone and we experienced a whirlwind of activity,
beauty and grace. I am edified by the number of parishioners who came
and worshipped as a family. Thank you-Thank you- Thank you! Your presence
warmed the hearts of your priests. I am sure that Jesus blessed all
of us for attending."
Las
Posadas - Our Hispanic Ministries recently celebrated
the special Advent tradition of "Las Posadas". In Mexico,
Christmas is an important holiday season with strong traditions. One
of the most colorful traditions is the posada festivity,
celebrated every evening from December 16 to 24. These celebrations
commemorate Mary and Joseph's cold and difficult journey from Nazareth
to Bethlehem in search of shelter. "Posada" in Spanish,
simply means lodging or shelter. Nowadays, the posada has evolved
into a religious and social celebration, paying a festive homage to
the journey.
Feast
of Our Lady of Guadalupe
The
Feast commemorates a series of Our Lady apparitions to Juan Diego
(now St. Juan Diego), an Aztec Indian, in 1531 near present-day Mexico.
Our parish celebration began with a rosary at 5:00am followed by the
Mañanitas procession from the Guadalupe Chapel to the main
entrance of the church. Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe was
celebrated. A reception followed the Mass in the Social Hall.
Annual
Memorial Mass - November
is the month when we pray for the souls of our departed. A special
Mass is said each year during November for those who have been buried
from St. Anthony’s or St. Agnes Mission in the past year, as
well as other loved ones of parishioners deceased since last November.
This year the Annual Memorial Mass took place on Saturday
November 19th, at 10am in the Main Church, followed by a
buffet luncheon in the Social Hall. The symbols of water from the
Baptismal font, light from the Easter Candle, and floral tributes
recalled the special lives of the individuals remembered at this special
Mass. Families gathered after Mass in the Social Hall for a luncheon
and reception.
